Spending 5 days making art with an incredible group of artists was such a treat. I had some ideas of what I might experiment with going in but the fun of a collab is the discovery and collaboration that happens through the week. I took a walk around the workspace one day and was blown away by how much was happening. People learning from each other and trying new media. There will be an online auction of some of the work created including several pieces that I worked on. The auction is June 1-8. You can see the details at www.frogwoodcollab.com

Long earthy bling. Can you have earthy and bling together? This might be my favorite piece of the new collection. Green tourmaline, lattice moonstone and dendritic quartz with a tiny sprig of Douglas fir.

New Sweetfern (Comptonia peregrina) hoops. I bought a Sweetfern plant when I saw it at the Seattle Arboretum because I wanted to try to cast those sweet little fronds and they cast beautifully. This is not actually a fern but a small shrub that is native in the eastern United States. The plant is thriving in my garden so now I have an endless supply of these fern like leaves. These will be in my collection release this Saturday. Head over to my website and sign up for my VIP list to get all the details.

Dendritic Agates and cast cedar fronds. I made a pair similar to this before Christmas and decided I wanted to a whole collection with Dendritic agates. The inclusions that look like tree branches or ferns are actually a combination of iron oxide and manganese elements intermingling with microcrystalline quartz. I am still working on more pieces for this collection. Next up 3 new necklaces that are almost done!

The turnout today in Port Townsend for the Hand Off protest was impressive and it felt good to join so many others that are feeling angry, sad and afraid for country. It gives me hope to see so many rallies around the country and so many people who believe what is happening in our country is wrong. Another new pair of earrings in the new collection. These have a couple of cast lilac seed pods and grey sapphires paired with dendritic agates. I had hoped to release the collection this week but I’ve decided to wait. I have quite a few more pieces that I’ve started and am really excited about. We are headed out on a SW roadtrip so instead of hunkering down with this collection, I will be exploring the trails and slot canyons in Utah for a few weeks. This collection will be waiting for me when I return. Hopefully you are patient if you are eyeing one of these pieces ❤️😊

A few more Oaxaca photos. We spent a day visiting local villages where we saw rug weaving, ceramics, arebrijes (intricately carved and colorfully painted animals), and back strap weaving. Each artist home and studio was beautiful in a way that is found in these warm climates where people spend so much time in the open air and gardens. The work is highly detailed and one can see the time taken with each piece. The care put into each animal, each vase, each textile is what makes me love these crafts so much.
